Siege units are the fourth troops available to the governor of a newly-founded city. They are trained and upgraded in the Siege Workshop. Several commanders have the ability to specialize their talents to boost the effectiveness of siege, including Julius Caesar, Frederick I, Hannibal Barca, and Scipio Africanus.

Battering Ram – Tier 1


Simple structures that can inflict massive damage on wooden gates. A nightmare for many cities.

The Battering Ram is the Tier 1 (T1) Siege unit for all civilizations. It is unlocked upon founding the city.

Arcuballista – Tier 2


Essentially a giant crossbow on a reinforced frame which fires enormous arrows. Extremely damaging to city fortifications.

The Arcuballista is the Tier 2 (T2) Siege unit for all civilizations. It is unlocked upon research of the Arcuballista technology.

Mangonel – Tier 3


Althought it lacks precision, the mangonel can still deal crippling blows to large targets, such as fortresses.

The Mangonel is the Tier 3 (T3) Siege unit for all civilizations. It is unlocked upon research of the Mangonel technology.

Ballista – Tier 4


Storing power through torsion rather than tension, these "monsters of the battlefield" combine astonishing range with horrifying destructive power.
